About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes are selected from estate vineyards lying between 240 and 360 metres above sea level. The soils are medium textured and contain galestro marl of Eocene origin.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese.

Vinification

Fermentation and refinement take place in stainless-steel containers and glass-lined concrete vats. Cooling jackets and immersion plates provide temperature control.

Ageing

The wine undergoes an extended period in oak barrels followed by additional refinement in bottle.

Tasting profile

Ruby red tending towards garnet. Red-berry notes are wrapped in gentle spice. The palate is warm, reasonably soft and well balanced, with body, moderately pronounced tannins and a long aromatic persistence.

Serving and pairing

Open one hour before serving and pour at 18°C in a balloon-shaped crystal glass. Pair with roasted or stewed game, pasta dressed with sauces based on the same meats, or mature cheeses. Store bottles horizontally in a cool, dark place protected from temperature fluctuations.
