About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Riserva is made only in the best vintages from the finest fruit selected manually in Pianrosso. The vineyard covers 11.69 hectares at 240–360 metres above sea level, on medium-textured soils rich in galestro marl of Eocene origin.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese.
Vinification
Following rigorous selection in the vineyard, the wine undergoes a long maceration on the skins. Fermentation and refinement take place in stainless-steel containers and glass-lined concrete vats with temperature control provided by cooling jackets and immersion plates.
Ageing
An extended period in oak barrels is followed by prolonged refinement in bottle.
Tasting profile
Ruby red tending towards garnet. The intense, broad and complex bouquet combines ripe red berries with numerous spices and may develop ethereal nuances. The palate is warm and harmonious, with pronounced yet soft tannins, a full body and a very long aromatic finish. Its structure supports many years of further bottle development.
Serving and pairing
Open one hour before serving and pour at 18°C in a large balloon-shaped crystal glass. Pair with structured meat courses, stewed meats, roasted game and furred game, or very mature cheeses. It may also be served alone as a meditation wine. Store bottles horizontally in a cool, dark place without temperature fluctuations.
Label / history
An anti-counterfeiting hologram protects the capsule.
