About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow on mineral-rich limestone soils in central Sardinia. The soils drain well, and the limestone contributes to a balanced taste, keeps the wine fresh and gives it a soft structure. The estate's vineyards lie at the foot of Monte Arci, an extinct volcano that rises above the town, which nourishes and strengthens the roots of the vines.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness. Fermentation takes place at 26–28 °C with about 15 days of skin maceration, which extracts colour, aromatic compounds and soft tannins.
Ageing
The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks, to preserve its clean fruit character and emphasise its freshness.
Tasting profile
Warm Mediterranean character with a harmonious structure. Ripe red berries, gentle spice and delicate tannins come together in a smooth, balanced taste.
Serving and pairing
Pairs with grilled meat, lamb, pasta with meat-based sauces and aged cheeses.
Label / history
The Atzei winery, owned by Fantini Group, lies among the Giara mountains, in an area of unspoiled natural beauty far from the rush of modern life. Much of the land is still ploughed by horses, and local craftspeople continue to follow the ancient traditions expressed in Sardinia's tapestries. To celebrate this heritage, the winery created the "Saragat" range, whose labels feature traditional patterns.
