About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Località Il Poggiolo in Montalcino, at 450 m above sea level. The soil has a sandy-loam texture, with clay and an abundant galestro stone component.
Grapes
Sangiovese Grosso, locally identified as Brunello.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks and lasts approximately 21–25 days.
Ageing
The Riserva matures for three years in large French-oak casks, followed by one year in 500 L French-oak tonneaux. It is then refined in bottle for 12 months.
Technical data
Alcohol: 13–14%.
Tasting profile
Deep, brilliant ruby red, developing garnet nuances with age. The broad, highly persistent bouquet recalls liquorice and woodland berries. The palate is full and persistent, with soft, elegant tannins.
