About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The wine comes from the 1 ha MGA Vignarionda vineyard in the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba. The vines were planted in 1994 at 330 m above sea level, with a south-west exposure. The soil is composed of limestone and clay, and production is 5,000–5,500 kg/ha.
Vignarionda is presented as one of Serralunga’s best-known and most highly regarded crus, a site particularly suited to Nebbiolo.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks for approximately 18–20 days.
Ageing
Ageing lasts 24 months. The wine spends its first year in 225 L French oak barriques and its second year in large Slavonian oak casks.
Technical data
Approximately 4,000 bottles are produced.
Tasting profile
An intense, robust and austere Barolo that remains harmonious and balanced. It has a deep garnet-red colour. The complex, elegant bouquet moves from wild berries and sweet tobacco to deep balsamic nuances. The palate is rich and harmonious, with remarkable persistence.
