About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from the Colle del Sole vineyard in the municipality of Maiolati Spontini. The site lies at 120 m above sea level and has predominantly clay-loam soil with abundant rock fragments. Vines are cordon-trained and spur-pruned. Yield is 9,000 kg/ha.

Grapes

60% Montepulciano and 40% Sangiovese.

Vinification

The grapes are picked by hand, generally between 10 and 20 October. Traditional red-wine vinification includes maceration on the skins followed by cold racking.

Ageing

The wine matures in large oak casks. Its indicated ageing window is 3–7 years.

Technical data

Rosso Piceno DOC. Clear in appearance. The current shop release is the organically produced 2022 vintage, offered in 750 ml bottles.

Tasting profile

Ruby red, developing garnet hues with age. The bouquet is pleasantly vinous, with ripe red-fruit aromas. The palate is persistent and balanced, with soft, sweet-edged tannins. A broader description highlights an intense red colour and a distinctly fruity character led by plum and morello cherry, followed by a soft, appropriately tannic and harmonious palate.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18°C.
