About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from six vineyards across Treiso, Barbaresco and Neive, at elevations of 200–400 metres. Planting density is 5,000 vines per hectare, and the youngest vines are 20 years old.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand from late September to mid-October. Traditional vinification takes place in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine matures for two years in a combination of small and large oak barrels, followed by a further six months in bottle before release.
Tasting profile
The finish is gently astringent, a characteristic associated in the source with Nebbiolo.
Label / history
Pelissero is a family winery whose family has grown vines in the heart of Barbaresco for several generations. Luigi Pelissero founded the company and began bottling and selling wine under the family name and Pelissero logo in the 1960s. The winery is now run by his son Giorgio, an oenologist, and its holdings cover 38 hectares. It is located on a hilltop in the Treiso area.
