About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from 18 ha of estate vineyards at Magliano in Toscana, close to the sea in Maremma. The vineyards lie at 100 m a.s.l. with southern and south-western exposure. The sloping Pseudoverrucano terrain contains abundant stones, particularly galestro marl and sandstone. Planting density is 3,000 vines/ha in the older blocks and 6,000 vines/ha in the newer plantings. The coastal setting and stony terrain shape the wine’s warm, spicy Mediterranean character.

Grapes

85% Sangiovese and 15% Ciliegiolo.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested manually. Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless-steel tanks at the Magliano winery over 15–20 days.

Ageing

The wine matures for eight months in concrete.

Technical data

First produced in 1998. Average production is approximately 60,000 bottles. Its stated ageing potential is five years.

Tasting profile

A warm, intense red reflecting the sunlit coastal terrain. Its generous, pleasurable character gives it an approachable and versatile profile.
