About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Nebbiolo comes exclusively from organically cultivated vineyards in the MeGA Basarin area of Neive. The wine is certified organic by Ecogruppo Italia.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
Carefully selected grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Skin maceration continues for four weeks or longer.
Ageing
The wine matures for at least 24 months in traditional Slavonian oak casks. It is bottled in summer, followed by an extended period in bottle before release. Punset presents the wine as a Riserva because of this prolonged maturation.
Tasting profile
Garnet-ruby in colour, developing lightly orange tones with age. Floral and wild-berry aromas merge with chocolate and spice. The palate is velvety, harmonious, delicate and graceful.
Label / history
Barbaresco is the flagship category in Punset’s production, with Riserva Basarin at the head of the range. It was included in Wine Spectator’s “The Top 100 Wines of the Year” in both 1994 and 2012.
