About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from vineyards across the Langhe, with a significant proportion located in Dogliani. The vineyards are cultivated at 500 m above sea level in an area with a strong tradition of Dolcetto production.
Grapes
100% Dolcetto.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in September, then destemmed and pressed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vessels. Skin contact lasts approximately one week, followed by malolactic fermentation in stainless steel.
Technical data
Langhe Dolcetto DOC. The first vintage was 1969. The wine is described as having moderate alcohol, although no numerical value is given.
Tasting profile
Ruby red with prominent violet reflections. The intense fragrance recalls cherries and ripe plums. The palate is balanced and fresh, with measured tannins, fragrant and vinous character, and a pleasantly bitter aftertaste.
Serving and pairing
Made as an everyday table wine, its freshness allows it to accompany a meal from beginning to end. It is particularly suited to Italian-style antipasti, first courses and fresh cheeses.
Label / history
Renato Ratti created the historic “soldier” label in tribute to the heroism of Piedmontese regiments during the eighteenth century. The wine is presented in the Albeisa bottle, named after Alba and created by Renato Ratti in 1973 to identify the territory and its wines.
