About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Sangiovese is organically grown in the 2 ha Sassignolo vineyard in Mercato Saraceno, in the province of Forlì-Cesena. The site lies at approximately 250 m above sea level and has stony soils containing clay and silt. Its climate benefits from a constant exchange of air currents from the Adriatic and the Alps. Planting density is 6,300 vines per hectare.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in early October and undergo two selections: one in the vineyard and another at the winery. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. The wine is neither fined nor filtered.
Ageing
The wine matures for 14 months in old oak barrels, followed by six months in stainless-steel tanks. After bottling, it rests in the winery’s cellars for at least another year.
Label / history
Approximately 6,000 bottles are produced each year.
