About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Sella & Mosca’s own vineyards in Sardinia, planted across hilly terrain with granite, slate, sandstone and limestone soils. The vineyards are surrounded by gardens containing flowering oleanders, pines, palms and eucalyptus trees.
At La Cala, limestone- and clay-rich soils, exposure and salt-laden Mistral winds contribute to the wine’s savoury and fruity character.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness and gently pressed. The must is cold-settled for clarification, then fermented in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled 18 °C to preserve its fresh fruit notes.
Ageing
Before bottling, the wine rests briefly on its lees in steel tanks, developing balance, structure and secondary aromas.
Tasting profile
The nose has intense citrus aromas with delicate Mediterranean herbs. The palate is light yet expressive, with refreshing acidity, mineral character, a subtle saline note and excellent balance.
Serving and pairing
Pair with seafood.
Label / history
The name refers to a stretch of coastline called La Cala, also known as La Cala Viola for its distinctive purple hues.
