About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyard comprises three small plots in Le Coste di Monforte, together covering 0.8 hectares planted to Nebbiolo for Barolo. The vines are 25–30 years old and face southeast. The soil is rich in clay and silt, with white-grey sand.
Vineyard management is directed toward low yields and avoids forcing the plants, leaving few, small bunches on each vine. The bunches are harvested at full ripeness to retain each vineyard's identity and express the territory.
Grapes
Nebbiolo.
Vinification
Submerged-cap fermentation lasts 7–10 days. This is followed by a long maceration of approximately 80 days. After completing malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to wood.
Ageing
The Barolo matures in wood for two years while remaining in contact with its own sediment, encouraging refinement, evolution and greater elegance. Subsequent bottle maturation develops further complexity.
