About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Sangiovese grows on sunny slopes around Montalcino, a Tuscan hilltop village 30 km south of Siena. Brunello vineyards are limited by DOCG rules to elevations no higher than 600 m; above this altitude, the cooler mesoclimate could hinder even ripening. Montalcino has one of Tuscany’s warmest and driest climates, and unripe grapes are consequently rare.
Grapes
The wine is made exclusively from Sangiovese.
Vinification
After harvest, the grapes are gently pressed and traditionally fermented in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine spends its first 24 months in stainless-steel tanks, followed by 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks. It then rests for at least four months in bottle in the winery’s cellars before release.
Tasting profile
Elegant.
