About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in the estate’s vineyards in Abruzzo, on hills between Mount Maiella and the Adriatic Sea. The soils are predominantly clay and limestone. The local climate and geography favour grape quality.
Vinification
Harvest begins in October at optimal ripeness. The grapes are picked entirely by hand and carefully sorted. Traditional red-wine vinification includes skin maceration at a controlled temperature and gentle pressing intended to preserve the anthocyanins.
Tasting profile
Elegant in character.
Serving and pairing
Pairs with spicy dishes, appetizers, light meat dishes, porcini ravioli, smoked salmon, pasta and fruit.
Label / history
The Villa Diana range is named after Diana, the Roman goddess associated with nature, hunting, femininity and fertility. Often depicted as a graceful huntress carrying a bow and quiver and accompanied by hunting dogs or deer, she inspired the bow emblem on the black label, which features gold embossing. The name also refers to Abruzzo’s unspoiled landscape: national parks cover one-third of the region and shelter wildlife including deer, an animal particularly dear to Diana.
