About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The company’s 25 hectares of vineyards lie on both sides of the historic Claudia Augusta road, which runs through the winery. The mainly clay soils are fertile and rich in mineral salts. The vineyards are near the Piave River, which gives a distinctive character to wines made from fruit grown along its banks.

Grapes

Glera accounts for 85–100% of the blend, with the proportion varying by year. Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco and Pinot Grigio may also be included.

Vinification

After harvest, the grapes are gently pressed in a pneumatic press. The juice is settled at low temperature, then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Secondary fermentation takes place in autoclaves with added yeast, following the Charmat–Martinotti method. Before bottling, the wine is filtered and racked under isobaric conditions.

Label / history

The name 47 Anno Domini refers to 47 AD, the year in which Emperor Claudius completed the Claudia Augusta road.
