About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Nebbiolo comes from the Roncaglie MGA in the municipality of Barbaresco, a site long regarded as one of the area’s leading vineyard zones. The limestone- and clay-rich vineyard has a south to south-west exposure and lies at approximately 280 m above sea level. The Guyot-trained vines average around 35 years of age, with approximately 4,600 vines per hectare.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand. Alcoholic fermentation lasts approximately three weeks in stainless steel, in contact with the skins and with regular pump-overs. The period includes cold pre-fermentation and post-fermentation maceration employing the traditional submerged-cap method. Malolactic fermentation takes place in wood.
Ageing
Approximately 30 months in large barrels.
Tasting profile
Ruby red with subtle garnet highlights. The bouquet is rich and powerful, with floral tones and ripe fruit. The full-bodied palate develops strawberry and raspberry notes. Mature tannins remain soft and silky, while a distinctive almond nuance shapes the finish. The wine is balanced and refined.
