About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The organically farmed fruit comes from eight south-facing vineyards on the hills of Radda in Chianti, at around 400 m above sea level. Each site has its own terroir. The well-structured clay soils contain the limestone characteristic of Chianti Classico.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness and fermented for three weeks in upright vinification tanks. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine spends 20 months in oak barrels, with 90% aged in Slavonian oak and 10% in French oak from Allier. It then matures for 12 months in steel tanks and six months in bottle. This extended maturation contributes nuance and depth.
Tasting profile
Rich and very elegant, with a refined, more demanding character.
Label / history
The estate passed through the ownership of several noble Tuscan families before being acquired by the Zonin company in 1979. Gianni Zonin initially focused on improving grape quality, then on restoring and developing the medieval estate. The Zonin family has continued to expand the vineyards and winery. The property now covers 900 ha, including more than 150 ha planted with vines and olive trees.
