Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in Bucine, in the province of Arezzo, in south-facing vineyards at 400 metres above sea level. The soils are well drained.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, then destemmed and pressed. Fermentation takes place in cone-shaped vats at a controlled 27 °C for 7–10 days, followed by 8–10 days of post-fermentation maceration.
Ageing
The wine matures in large oak barrels for 18 months and rests for a further three months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Fresh, complex and elegant, with an approachable everyday style.
Serving and pairing
Pairs with red meat, meat served with sauces, fish, pizza and cheeses.
Vintage notes
In Tuscany, 2018 brought heavy rain and hail, which damaged some areas planted with Sangiovese. This was followed by favourable summer weather, with hot days and cooler nights, resulting in a strong, healthy harvest. The season’s red wines showed juicy fruit, good acidity and structure.
