Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from the 12.5 ha La Casuccia vineyard, divided into 17 plots, two of which are planted with Merlot. The vines were planted between 1964 and 1975 in clay-limestone soils. The vineyards lie at 500 m above sea level.

Vinification

In 2007, Merlot was harvested in the second half of September and Sangiovese in early October. Fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks with regular pump-overs. Maceration lasted 26 days. The wine then underwent malolactic fermentation and was blended after its completion.

Ageing

The wine matured for one year in Allier oak barriques, of which 40% were new and 60% used. It was bottled in June 2009.

Label / history
