Ageing
The wine matures for seven months in stainless-steel tanks and barriques, followed by 18–30 months on the lees in bottle.
Tasting profile
Bright and lively, with energetic bubbles and ample character. Fresh aromas and flavours are marked by candied citrus and warm spice.
Label / history
Contadi Castaldi began in 1991, when Bellavista owner Vittorio Moretti set out to make wine in a different, more complex and innovative style. The name preserves a link with local tradition: “Contadi” was formerly used for the counties into which the Castaldi family’s lands were divided. The Castaldis were noble lords entitled by law to receive the finest produce from each crop.
The winery is based in Adro, one of Franciacorta’s 19 municipalities. Research has included experimental projects conducted with research institutions. Its 7,000 m² of covered cellar space accommodates vinification, maturation and bottling. The company is managed by oenologist Gian Luca Uccelli, who studied under Bellavista chief oenologist Mattia Vezzola. Uccelli works to develop a fresh, soft and delicate house style with subtle, integrated acidity.
