Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Cupano’s 3.7 ha of estate vineyards, situated on hills beside the Ombrone River, south of Siena near Montalcino, at 200 m above sea level. The soils are rich in minerals. The vines are farmed with low yields and only organic fertilizers.
Grapes
This variation on Cupano’s traditional Ombrone is made exclusively from Cabernet Sauvignon, omitting the Merlot and Sangiovese used in the classic version.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and selected on a sorting table. Traditional fermentation takes place on the lees in new French oak barrels.
Label / history
Ombrone takes its name from the river running along the western edge of the 34 ha Cupano estate.
