Dal Cero

1934 – Foundation

The story of Dal Cero Family began in 1934 in the province of Verona, when Augusto Dal Cero bought an unusual plot of land in the commune of Roncà, overlooked by the two extinct volcanoes of Crocetta and Calvarina. The land required a great deal of careful work, but Augusto was not one to give up when things became difficult. He knew little about geology, but he understood winemaking well. He had a strong feeling that planting vines on the volcanoes, surrounded by woodland, would bring exceptional results.

1940–1945 – War years

In 1940, after the war began, Augusto had to leave his family and the work he loved to become a soldier. He returned 5 long years later and began rebuilding the estate.

Second generation

After Augusto's death, his sons, Dario and Giuseppe, took over the family business. They decided to focus on producing ambitious red wines and acquired the Montecchiesi estate to expand their vineyard holdings.

Today

Dal Cero Family owns three estates: Tenuta Montecchiesi, Tenuta di Corte Giacobbe and Dal Cero in Valpolicella.

The original estate lies in the commune of Roncà, in the province of Verona, on a plot overlooked by the two extinct volcanoes of Crocetta and Calvarina, surrounded by woodland.
