Storia
Origins
Cantina Endrizzi is a family-run winery in Trentino, founded in 1885, when the area was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. San Michele all'Adige has been an important wine-growing region since the Middle Ages. The Augustinian monks of the local abbey were the first to encourage winemaking here, tending ancient vineyards that are now owned by the Endrizzi estate.
In 1885, Francesco and Angelo Endrizzi established the winery in the Masetto area, where it remains today. They were pioneers, growing both international varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and local grapes, including Lagrein and Teroldego.
Generational succession
Francesco was succeeded as head of the company by his son Romano and then by his grandson Franco, who led the Trento Wine Council for twenty years. Today, the fourth generation of the Endrizzi family runs the winery: Paolo and his wife Christine, a German architect. Their children, Lisa Maria and Daniele, who have received specialist training, are already helping them.
Cantina Endrizzi was one of the first wineries in Trentino-Alto Adige to adopt environmentally friendly farming methods.
