Label / history
The wine was created as a tribute to Sicily. Its name literally means “hen” or “brooding hen” and refers to the image of a nurturing, protective mother drawn from Ovid’s Metamorphoses. Sailors and fishermen once regarded this figure as a sign pointing towards the volcano and the fertile lands beyond.
