Storia
From 1600
The Grassi family has owned land in Chianti since 1600.
2000 onwards
The winery's modern revival began in 2000, when Susanna Grassi decided to restore her family's legacy and produce quality traditional wines while preserving the region's traditions.
2002
Ancient terraces were rebuilt to restore them to their former beauty and to respect the region's cultural heritage.
Terroir
The winery is in Lamole, in the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany. Vineyards lie at 550 to 650 metres above sea level, some on ancient terraces. The restored terraces face south and southwest, so the vines receive sunlight through the day. Their stone walls absorb heat and release it slowly at night, which helps the grapes ripen more evenly.
Vinificazione
The estate follows organic farming principles certified by Q Cert. The transition to organic methods was gradual and natural, without rushing or pressure. Part of the vines are grown on restored terraces.
The wines are made mainly from Sangiovese. The winery takes a personal, intimate approach to both winemaking and tastings.
Filosofia
The winery describes its philosophy as based on respect for nature and careful attention to the distinctive character of Lamole's terroir. Susanna Grassi aims to restore her family's legacy and make quality traditional wines while preserving the region's traditions. The winery favours a personal, intimate approach to winemaking and tastings, aiming at a genuine Tuscan atmosphere. It presents the terraces as a living reminder of the land's past.
