Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from Tenuta Montenisa, situated around the hamlet of Calino in the heart of Franciacorta. Grapes are harvested by hand, with careful bunch selection, and carried in small crates to protect the berries from breakage and unwanted premature fermentation.

Grapes

A blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc. Chardonnay contributes floral and fruity characteristics, Pinot Noir provides structure and personality, and Pinot Blanc brings savory, mineral qualities.

Vinification

The grapes are gently pressed using pneumatic presses. The free-run first-press must is transferred to temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation. Secondary fermentation then takes place in bottle.

Ageing

The wine remains in bottle in prolonged contact with its lees.

Technical data

Franciacorta DOCG Brut; non-vintage; 12.5% alcohol by volume.

Tasting profile

Light straw yellow, with creamy foam and a fine, persistent perlage. White peach, apple, toasted bread, bread crust and lees shape the aromatic profile. The palate is balanced and lively in the Brut style; dried-apricot nuances add harmony, expressiveness and elegance.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 7–9 °C. Its floral and fruity character suits aperitifs, vegetable-based starters, fish, white meat and simply prepared first courses.

Label / history

The estate belonged to the Maggi family during the twentieth century. Its history is linked to the Mille Miglia automobile race through Count Aymo Maggi, one of the race’s founders, and to Countess Camilla Maggi, remembered locally for her charitable and social initiatives.
