Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the Russiz Superiore estate in Capriva del Friuli, within Collio DOC. The hilly soils were formed during the Eocene epoch and comprise alternating layers of sandstone and loam rock made up of limestone and clay. Their impermeable character encourages surface runoff, limits erosion and prevents water stagnation. The vines are trained to spurred cordon.
Grapes
100% Cabernet Franc.
Vinification
The grapes are picked entirely by hand and destemmed before entering tanks equipped for red-wine vinification. Alcoholic fermentation begins immediately. Contact between the skins and wine averages 10–15 days, with the precise duration governed by the vintage and the progress of extraction.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation also takes place, followed by approximately six months in bottle.
Technical data
Alcohol is approximately 13.5%. Available bottle formats are 0.75 L and 1.5 L.
Tasting profile
Deep ruby red. The complex, fruit-driven bouquet combines black cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant with a distinct green-pepper note. The palate is rich and pleasing, balancing freshness with a silky texture.
