Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are at Russiz Superiore in Capriva del Friuli, within the Collio DOC area. Formed during the Eocene, the hilly terrain alternates sandstone with loam rock containing limestone and clay. The impermeable soil encourages surface runoff, limiting erosion and avoiding standing water. The vines are trained to Guyot.
Grapes
Pinot Grigio, a variety cultivated in the Collio since the second half of the nineteenth century.
Vinification
All grapes are harvested by hand and destemmed. The must and pulp undergo cold maceration at controlled temperature before gentle pressing separates the juice from the skins. Approximately 15% of the must ferments in oak barrels and 85% in stainless-steel vats.
Ageing
The wine remains on its lees for eight months and then matures for several additional months in bottle.
Technical data
The wine page gives an approximate alcohol content of 13%, while the technical sheet gives approximately 13.5%. Formats are 0.75 L and 1.5 L.
Tasting profile
Golden yellow with copper highlights. The pronounced bouquet recalls white-fleshed fruit—particularly apple and pear—together with broom. Elegant and fruity on the palate, it is full-bodied and well structured, balancing acidity with savouriness before a long finish.
