Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown at Russiz Superiore in Capriva del Friuli, within Collio DOC. The hilly terrain was formed during the Eocene epoch and comprises alternating layers of sandstone and loam rock made up of limestone and clay. Its impermeable structure encourages surface runoff, limits erosion and prevents water stagnation. Vines are trained to Guyot.
Grapes
100% Friulano, one of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s oldest indigenous varieties, documented in the region since the 11th century.
Vinification
The grapes are picked entirely by hand and destemmed. The must and pulp undergo cold maceration at controlled temperature, followed by gentle pressing to separate the juice from the skins. Approximately 15% of the must ferments in oak barrels and the remaining 85% in stainless-steel vats.
Ageing
Approximately eight months on the lees, followed by several additional months in bottle.
Technical data
The wine page gives alcohol as approximately 13%, while the English technical sheet gives approximately 13.5%. Available formats are 0.75 L and 1.5 L.
Tasting profile
Straw yellow with green highlights. The intense bouquet features wild flowers, almond blossom, hawthorn and chamomile. The palate is enveloping, full-bodied, structured and refined, with a harmonious balance between structure and acidity.
