Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from hillside vineyards in Bornato and Cellatica, in the heart of Franciacorta DOCG.
Vinification
The Chardonnay and Pinot Nero grapes are harvested entirely by hand and carefully selected, with only 55% of the crop used. They are gently pressed in pneumatic presses. Fermentation takes place partly in stainless-steel tanks and partly in oak barrels. The resulting must is blended with 15% wine produced by the traditional method.
Ageing
After bottling, the wine matures for a further 24 months in the estate’s cellars.
Label / history
The pink, black and silver label is inspired by the energy and nightlife of Las Vegas.
Monte Rossa takes its name from the hill on which it stands, meaning “Red Mountain”. The winery was founded in 1972, after the Rabotti family inherited a historic eighteenth-century villa on Monte Rossa hill in Bornato, in the province of Brescia. Its founders were Paola Rovetta and her husband Paolo, the founder and first president of the Franciacorta Consortium. They supported the introduction of secondary fermentation and helped establish stricter guidelines for Italian sparkling-wine production. Their son Emanuele Rabotti later took over the company. A new winery was built in 2002. In 2011, Monte Rossa received Gambero Rosso’s “Stella” award for the consistent quality of its wines over many years.
