Storia
The history of Castello Monterinaldi goes back to 1010, when Count Gottifredo founded a castle on the site. The castle still stands today, despite the passage of time and many wars. Winemaking now takes place at Villa La Pesanella, at the foot of the hill.
Terroir
Monterinaldi lies in the heart of Chianti Classico, between Panzano and Radda in Chianti, on a hill shaped like a turtle shell. The winery follows the local terroir.
Vinificazione
Castello Monterinaldi is a certified organic winery. It uses only natural methods that protect biodiversity and soil health. This approach respects natural cycles, improves the quality of the grapes and olives, and reduces the winery's environmental impact. Olives are grown alongside the grapes.
Winemaking takes place at Villa La Pesanella at the foot of the hill. The winery aims to make Chianti Classico in its most traditional style, using modern technology and equipment when they can improve quality without changing the wine's classic character.
Filosofia
The turtle, the winery's symbol, reflects its philosophy: working slowly and thoughtfully, staying true to tradition and the local terroir, and developing gradually with a clear sense of purpose. The winery describes the turtle's unhurried pace as a reminder to keep moving forward with intention while keeping a deep connection to its roots, land and traditions. It states a clear commitment to sustainability and care for the environment.
