Storia
The oldest part of the Piemaggio estate dates back to the 11th–12th centuries AD. The remains of an old parish church at the heart of the property reflect the long agricultural history of the land. In the Middle Ages, religious orders preserved farming knowledge and passed it down from one generation to the next.

Terroir
The estate is in Le Fioraie, a small village in the north-western part of Castellina in Chianti, along the road to Poggibonsi, in the heart of the historic Chianti Classico region. The highest hillside of the estate is the position the name "maggiore" is thought to refer to.
