Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from hillside vineyards in Monsanto–Barberino Tavarnelle. Half overlook the northern valley toward Barberino, while the remainder face south toward Castellina. The soils consist of limestone and clay interspersed with schist, calcareous-clay galestro and sandstone. The vines are Guyot-trained, and yields are 35 hl/ha. The wine is produced from grapes grown under certified organic farming protocols.

Grapes

80% Sangiovese; the remaining 20% is composed of Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo and Colorino.

Vinification

The grapes are picked by hand and traditionally vinified in temperature-controlled steel and cement containers.

Ageing

About 18 months in 27 hl and 5 hl oak barrels.

Technical data

Alcohol: 13–14% vol. Production is approximately 35,000 bottles. Released in 750 ml bottles and 1.5 L Magnums.

Label / history

The first vintage was 1997. This is the estate’s Chianti Classico DOCG, selected from Sangiovese and other traditional native varieties.
