Sassopra

Marta and Federico grew up in winemaking families and spent their childhood helping their grandparents in the vineyards. This connection to the land and its traditions became the foundation of their own venture.

They rented five hectares of vineyards in the southern part of Frascati, ending a nomadic lifestyle of constant moves between regions.

After settling in Frascati

They expanded their work to Val d'Orcia in the heart of Tuscany, where they bought and restored historic vineyards. They are also gradually restoring old olive groves and producing organic olive oil.

The Frascati vineyards lie in the southern part of the Frascati area. The soils there are volcanic, rich in sodium and potassium, which gives the wines a lively, mineral structure. The second area is Val d'Orcia, in the heart of Tuscany.

Sassopra makes fresh white and sparkling wines from Frascati and full-bodied, expressive reds from Tuscany. All wines undergo natural fermentation, with minimal added sulfur and no filtration. The winery also produces organic olive oil.

The owners describe their approach as gentle: it aims to bring out the character of the volcanic soils and give the wines a lively, mineral structure. They also work to restore historic vineyards and old olive groves.
