Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Scarpa's Monvigliero estate in the municipality of Verduno, Cuneo. The Pelaverga parcel covers 1.10 hectares at coordinates 44.676512, 7.947376 and has a south-eastern exposure. The technical sheet places it at 350 metres above sea level. The vines were planted in 1970 and grafted over in 2019. The loose, pale soils are rich in limestone and sand.

Vinification
The wine macerates on its skins for 10 days in stainless-steel tanks, with two manual pump-overs each day. After alcoholic fermentation, it is racked into stainless steel, where malolactic fermentation is completed.
Ageing
Ageing continues for six months in stainless-steel tanks before bottling.
Technical data
Verduno Pelaverga DOC. Bottled in an amber Burgundy bottle with an elongated neck, produced exclusively for Scarpa and embossed with the winery trademark. Available format: 0.75 L. Cellaring potential exceeds five years.
Tasting profile
Medium-deep ruby red. The bouquet combines small red berries and rose with delicate spice and white-pepper notes. The palate has a fine body, pleasant freshness and light tannin, leading to a spicy finish.
Serving and pairing
Suitable for cured meats—particularly salame cotto and mortadella—hard cheeses, white meat and eel.
Recognition
The 2024 vintage received 94 points from Ian d'Agata Wine Review, while the 2022 received 90 points from Wine Enthusiast.
