Storia
The name Serradenari goes back to the time of the Black Death, the bubonic plague. People from La Morra and Barolo had to leave their homes and take shelter on the ridge, bringing all their savings with them. In the local dialect this became "Sara D'nè", meaning "sierra of money".
Late 19th century
The Diatto-Negri family has owned the estate since the late 19th century. They originally ran businesses in Turin, and exporting wine was a hobby. Through the family, wines from Langhe and Barolo were shipped to the United States for the first time.
2001
Politician and wine writer Giovanni Negri restored the winery.
Terroir
The estate sits at the "peak" of Barolo, on a ridge. It also includes 7.5 hectares of woodland known in Langhe as a "truffle paradise".
