Vineyard and terroir
Tremenalto comes from an approximately 2-hectare, west-facing vineyard within the Tremenalto UGA (Additional Geographical Unit), at 130 m above sea level. The vineyard clings to a steep mountainside, with its roots penetrating ancient, intact volcanic soil of a scarlet-red colour. Despite the pronounced gradient, the deep, evolved volcanic soils have largely escaped erosion. The Garganega vines average 60 years of age.
Tremenalto belongs to I Luoghi, a project exploring the diversity of Suavia’s volcanic soils through small vinifications of selected Garganega bunches from individual vineyards.
Grapes
100% Garganega.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand into crates in mid-October. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel for 14 days at 15–18 °C. Malolactic fermentation is not carried out.
Ageing
The wine remains in steel vats on its fine lees for 12 months. It undergoes a single membrane filtration before bottling, followed by 24 months of bottle maturation.
