Recent portfolio development
By April 2023, Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Riserva Tenuta di Missoj was the most recently introduced of the four Amarone expressions produced within the Campagnola portfolio. The estate is devoted to this Amarone Riserva and a Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Superiore, both presented as single-vineyard wines.
Terroir
Tenuta di Missoj occupies 3.5 ha at Mizzole, in the heart of Valpolicella in the province of Verona, Veneto. Its vines grow at approximately 200 m above sea level on a well-exposed, well-ventilated hill. Sun exposure and the movement of air are presented as conditions that enable the grapes to attain complete, intact ripeness.
The vineyard follows a north–south orientation. Its soil is calcareous and identified in the Italian estate description as being of Eocene origin.
Vinificazione
The entire 3.5-ha vineyard is under certified organic cultivation. Vines are trained to Guyot at a stated estate density of 3,000 vines per hectare.
Grapes intended for the estate’s red wines are harvested by hand, with selection focused on the finest mature, healthy bunches. The selection criteria described for grapes destined for drying include intact condition, complete polyphenolic maturity and a high sugar level.
Filosofia
Tenuta di Missoj is conceived around wines that evoke their place of origin and emphasize the characteristic identity of Valpolicella. Its approach links full, intact grape ripeness to the exposed and ventilated hillside site. The estate’s two wines are framed as authentic expressions of a historically cultivated landscape, with vineyard work conducted under certified organic management.
