Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from Tenuta Sant'Helena at Vencò in Dolegna del Collio, close to the Slovenian border. The estate's mild microclimate is shaped by shelter from the Julian Alps to the north and exposure toward the Adriatic to the south. Its soils comprise Eocene marl and sandstone, the local ponca.

Grapes

Friulano.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested during the first ten days of September and fermented in stainless-steel tanks.

Ageing

Maturation takes place in stainless steel.

Technical data

Collio DOC. Alcohol: 13% vol.

Tasting profile

Straw yellow with citrus-toned reflections. The delicate nose recalls white flowers, apple, pear and almond. Fresh and agile on the palate, yet soft and enveloping, it closes with the variety's characteristically gentle bitter note.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 10–12°C. Suitable as an aperitif and with land-based starters or seafood first courses; a particularly apt match for Prosciutto di San Daniele DOP.

Label / history

Rijeka is the name of the river bordering Tenuta Sant'Helena on the Slovenian side.
