Vineyard and terroir

The grapes are selected at Tenuta Sant'Helena in Vencò di Dolegna del Collio, close to the Slovenian border. The estate's mild climate is protected by the Julian Alps to the north and influenced by its southward opening toward the Adriatic. The characteristic ponca soil is formed from Eocene marl and sandstone.

Grapes

Merlot, Cabernet and Pinot Nero.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested in late September, with a portion subjected to post-harvest drying. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks.

Ageing

The wine is partially matured in oak barrels and undergoes a prolonged maturation.

Technical data

Collio DOC. Alcohol: 13.5% vol. Available in 750 ml and 1,500 ml bottles.

Tasting profile

Deep red tending toward garnet. The broad, complex bouquet combines blackberry and blueberry with liquorice, spice and toasted nuances. Full, rounded and warm on the palate, with a velvety texture, harmonious balance and a very persistent finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18–20°C. Its substantial structure suits red-meat main courses and game, as well as mature cheeses.
