Vineyard and terroir

The vineyards lie on steep slopes in Greve in Chianti, at the heart of the hilly Chianti region of central Tuscany. Sandy soils, cool nights and a long growing season encourage an aromatic, elegant expression.

Grapes

90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vinification

After delicate crushing, the must macerates on the skins for 1–2 weeks to extract colour and other polyphenolic compounds.

Ageing

Nine months in small and large barrels.

Tasting profile

Deep ruby red. Aromas of ripe cherries and red plums are joined by toasted vanilla and purple flowers. The palate is strongly structured, with bright acidity and a pleasantly savoury finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18 °C. Pair with charcuterie, meatballs in tomato sauce, grilled meat or pappardelle with truffles.

Production

Production area: Greve in Chianti, Tuscany. Winemaker: Elisabetta Matteini.
