Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

Produced in Contrada Dafara Galluzzo at Rovittello, in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia on Etna. Its structure and supple character are linked to the volcanic terrain covering the mountain’s slopes.

Grapes

Latest published composition: 97% Nerello Mascalese and 3% Nerello Cappuccio.

Ageing

Eighteen months in oak. Eighty percent matures in large 10–30 hL oak casks and 20% in barriques.

Technical data

Vintage 2023. Etna Rosso DOC. Alcohol: 13.5% vol. Available in 0.75 L; the estate catalogue also lists 1.5 L.

Tasting profile

Purple tones and ruby reflections introduce an expressive bouquet of red fruit, mandarin and blackcurrant. Musk and juniper emerge on the palate. The tannins are velvety, and the wine closes with a forceful, lingering finish evocative of Etna’s volcanic character.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18–20 °C; the estate catalogue specifies 18 °C. Pair with Pasta alla Norma, meat-sauce tortelli, lasagne or seared tuna.
