About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
La Poja comes from a 3 ha plot on the La Poja plateau at 320 m a.s.l., facing south-east. The limestone soil is rich in stones, and the white surface reflects sunlight, helping sugar concentration and phenolic ripeness. Vines are double-Guyot trained and more than 40 years old in the 2019 technical sheet.
Grapes and harvest
La Poja is 100% Corvina Veronese. Manual harvest with vineyard sorting takes place at the beginning of October, seeking perfect grape ripeness.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at 22-31 deg C for 12-15 days, with continuous pumping over.
Ageing
The wine matures in new French oak barriques for at least 20 months, then rests in large Slavonian oak barrels for 8 months and ages at least 22 months in bottle before release.

Vintage notes and pairing
The 2019 harvest ran from mid-September to mid-October. A mild winter, healthy budbreak, a cold rainy May and moderate summer temperatures in hillside and high-altitude vineyards produced refined, elegant wines. La Poja pairs with red meat, wild boar, duck and truffle dishes.
