About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Montepulciano fruit comes from vineyards in Abruzzo. The range is certified organic, biodynamic and vegan, and draws on the biodiversity of Maiella National Park. Pollen used in the wine comes from Il Pedemontano in the Maiella foothills, an area below 800 m with forests, pastures, rocky terrain, coastal zones, open mixed-oak woodland and dry meadows rich in aromatic plants.
Vinification
After harvest, the grapes undergo 14 days of maceration to emphasize their bright varietal aroma. Fermentation uses natural yeast produced with pollen gathered in Il Pedemontano, including pollen from the rare Maiella cornflower and violet, without added sulfites. For the 2020 vintage, black elder was also selected from the local flora.
Ageing
Part of the wine matures in oak barrels for six months; the remainder spends four months in stainless-steel tanks.
Tasting profile
The wine has a bright varietal aroma. The pollen source evokes centaury and the sweet, intense, slightly spicy scent of immortelle.
