Cantina Orsogna

Cantina Orsogna was founded in 1964 by seven winegrowers as a cooperative winery on the mountain slopes of Maiella National Park, 9 miles from the Adriatic Sea. Since its founding, the cooperative has grown to 600 partners, of whom 450 grow grapes and 150 grow olives. Today it works exclusively according to organic and biodynamic farming principles, processing around 20,000 tonnes of grapes each year, 30% of which are grown using biodynamic methods, with the remainder farmed organically.

The winery's vineyards lie on the mountain slopes of Maiella National Park, 9 miles from the Adriatic Sea, at altitudes of 400–500 metres above sea level. The combination of the mountain setting and proximity to the Adriatic coast creates a well-ventilated site, which helps protect the vines from harmful insects and fungal diseases.

The cooperative farms exclusively according to organic and biodynamic principles. Of the roughly 20,000 tonnes of grapes processed each year, 30% are grown using biodynamic methods, while the remaining 70% are grown organically.

Each year the cooperative processes around 20,000 tonnes of grapes contributed by its 450 grape-growing partners, farmed either biodynamically (30%) or organically (the remainder).

The winery works exclusively according to organic and biodynamic farming principles, reflecting a commitment to these methods across its entire grape-growing base rather than as a partial or experimental practice.
