History
The Carobbio property dates to the fifteenth century and was owned by the Magaldi family of Florentine merchants. It later belonged to the Hospital of Santa Maria Nuova.
The modern project involved substantial vineyard redevelopment, new high-density plantings and a focus on Chianti Classico and Toscana IGT wines.
Terroir
The estate lies in the Conca d’Oro of Panzano at 350–450 m. Alberese and galestro soils alternate across the vineyards.
Winemaking
High-density vineyardsVines are planted densely and carry few bunches.
Green harvestBunches are thinned in summer.
Cru vinificationSangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are bottled separately.
The estate uses high-density planting, limits the number of bunches per vine and thins bunches during summer.
Each vineyard has a defined role. The range includes Chianti Classico, single-variety crus, young wines and Vin Santo.
Philosophy
The wines are produced through vineyard-specific decisions and careful grape selection.
