About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Bellezza is a Gran Selezione sourced exclusively from Sangiovese grown in the estate's single vineyard of the same name. It is presented as the estate's most intense expression of Chianti Classico.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese. Meticulous vineyard work continues throughout the year, and the clusters are selected by hand at optimal ripeness.

Vinification

The wine ferments with indigenous yeasts in small stainless-steel tanks. Extended contact with the skins follows. Délestage and three punch-downs per day oxygenate the must, encourage ample fruit expression and contribute to a softer profile. Malolactic fermentation takes place in wood and adds complexity.

Ageing

Maturation lasts 16 months in a combination of 5 hL and 15 hL Roverella—Tuscan oak—casks, with a portion of the wine held in 500 L barrels. Lengthy bottle maturation follows, developing further complexity in flavour and texture.

Tasting profile

Deep ruby red. Red berries and citrus lead the aroma, set against spicy notes of vanilla and toast. The palate is balanced, with black cherry and raspberry complemented by orange peel and cedar. A flinty nuance emerges in the long finish. Freshness, a mouth-watering character and the firm acidic drive of Sangiovese carry the wine, while the tannins are silky and the overall style elegant.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18–19 °C. Pair with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, white-truffle dishes, red meats, furred or feathered game, and mature cheeses.

Vintage notes

The 2020 season was complicated by rain in late September and October. Vineyard location and exposure helped preserve elegance and general quality, although yields were lower and some fruit showed lighter tannic density; the best grapes retained strong character and spice.
