About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Nebbiolo comes from an approximately three-hectare plot in the Rocchettevino subzone of La Morra. The wine specification places the hillside vineyard at 400 m above sea level with a south-easterly exposure. Its soil is calcareous clay. The vines average 35 years of age, with a planting density of 4,000 vines per hectare and a yield of 45 hl/ha.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
Traditional temperature-controlled vinification and maceration take place in concrete tanks, with prolonged contact between the must and skins.
Ageing
Matured in Slavonian oak barrels.
Technical data
Alcohol is 14–14.5%, with acidity of 5.2–5.6 g/L. Annual production is 4,000 bottles. Formats are 0.75 L, 1.5 L and 3 L, and the minimum stated cellar life is 10 years.
Tasting profile
Brilliant garnet red. The pleasantly spicy nose brings together mountain herbs, balsamic nuances and subtle fruit. Clear and mineral on the palate, with pronounced freshness and a persistent finish. Its overall character is austere and refined, balancing balsamic and mineral qualities.
Serving and pairing
Excellent with roasts, braised red meats, game and flavourful cheeses.
