About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Nebbiolo comes from the Roggeri subzone of La Morra. The cru extends from the village of Roggeri to the foot of the winery and occupies a south-east-facing hillside at 300 m above sea level. Its soil is calcareous clay. The vines average 45 years of age, with a planting density of 4,000 vines per hectare and a yield of 45 hl/ha.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
Traditional temperature-controlled vinification and maceration take place in concrete tanks, with prolonged contact between the must and skins.
Ageing
Matured in Slavonian oak barrels.
Technical data
Alcohol is 14–14.5%, with acidity of 5.4–5.6 g/L. Annual production is 8,000 bottles. Formats are 0.75 L, 1.5 L and 3 L, and the minimum stated cellar life is 10 years.
Tasting profile
Deep garnet red. The intense, elegant nose offers fruit supported by sweet spice, violet and dried rose. The palate is powerful and harmonious, built around a dense, complex and imposing tannic structure. Freshness and savoury character carry through a lingering finish, giving the wine a strong yet elegant profile.
Serving and pairing
Excellent with game, braised red meats, mature cheeses and dishes served with white truffle.
